Marriage Equality in New Zealand says “All Love is Holy”

Monday, August 19th, 2013
Wedding ResourceNew Zealand celebrated the start of a new era in marriage equality with spectacular ceremonies across the country. The first same-sex weddings have taken place in New Zealand after the country became the first in the region and 14th in the world to legalize same-sex marriage.

Thirty-one same-sex couples had been due to marry on Monday, according to the Department of Internal Affairs.

It comes after the country’s parliament passed a bill in April amending the 1955 marriage act.

‘All love is holy’ says the Campaign for Marriage Equality which celebrates the end of years of  injustice.

One couple, Lynley Bendall and Ally Wanikau, celebrated their vows on a special flight between Queenstown and Auckland – in a ceremony attended by ‘Modern Family’ actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

Intimate Rustic Wedding: Georgia and Kent

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013

Thanks to René Tate for sharing this wedding recently shot at the Robinson Mansion in Canon City.

Georgia and Kent are a friendly Missouri couple, who decided to do a destination wedding close to family in Cañon City.  They were scheduled to tie the knot just a mile or two from the Royal Gorge Bridge .  However, the day before their wedding was the day the Royal Gorge fire started.  I believe Georgia was rafting and Kent was zip lining when they got word that they needed to evacuate ASAP.   Needless to say, their wedding plans were completely changed in a second. Fortunately, the beautiful Robinson Mansion was available on short notice.

All fires aside, Georgia and Kent’s wedding was one to be remembered regardless.  These two have had their hard times.  I’ll never forget how sincerely Georgia told me she knew Kent was the one.  She said, from the second he entered the room, she got this chill through her body and she new instantly he was the one.  She said it truly was love at first sight.

By the time Kent was ready to pop the question, tragedy struck Georgia’s family when her two oldest children died in a plane crash.

They decided to move forward with the wedding and you know, I just am so thankful that Kent met Georgia when he did.  I am so thankful that they had each other as they moved forward and processed this unimaginable event.

I am also so amazed at how these two have persevered and how much positivity, love, and excitement poured from them on their wedding day.  Obviously, this was an extremely emotional day as well.  I am so very honored to be the one to capture it. – from René‘s blog.

Wedding Pockets

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2013

Pockets are a detail that often go unnoticed at weddings but can give a formal event a laid back and humorous touch. Bridal gowns with pockets are coveted by modern brides, the ability to tuck a few small accessories into their gown let’s them freely move around the party without having to search for lip gloss or an extra bobby pin.

Here are a few of our favorite wedding pockets on gowns, bridesmaids and grooms.
